SUMMARY:Communication for Impact: How to Communicate WGE Efforts Effectively
DESCRIPTION:Background\nStrategic communication of workplace gender equality initiatives connects and brings together vision\, goals\, objectives\, and tactics\, reminding us ‘why’ we are here and motivating us to contribute to the goals identified. A strategic communication plan that is transparent\, clear\, well understood sets out a clear plan of action by clearly defining the information we want to transmit\, for what impact\, to whom\, and by targeting the most effective means for achieving our objectives. \nTaking the importance of strategic communication into consideration\, BCGE is hosting a member-exclusive communications workshop titled “Communicating for Impact: How to Communicate WGE Efforts Effectively” to help participants understand the importance of and approaches to communicating WGE efforts strategically and effectively. \nSupervisors\, managers\, and focal persons who are managing communications within their organisation for internal and external stakeholders from member firms are highly encouraged to participate in the workshop. \nRegistrants will be invited to complete a pre-test by registration link and a post-test at the end of the workshop to assess knowledge gained\, collect reflections\, and provide feedback on the workshop.  \nDate: 22 November 2022 \nTime: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm \nVenue: Meliá Hotel Yangon \nRegistration\nPlease register here to receive the calendar invite. Registrants must complete the pre-assessment for the workshop. \n*The session will be conducted in hybrid manner with both English and Myanmar languages. \nSpeaker\n\n\n\nKyawt Kay Thi Win is a DEI thought leader\, strategist and Country Director of the Business Coalition for Gender Equality Association. Kyawt designed and developed the first workplace gender equality index and assessment in the country\, ‘Know Your WGE’\, which guides organisations in their gender reporting process. Kyawt consults with businesses and organisations on strategic solutions for fostering equitable and inclusive workplaces. This important work focuses on including nurturing inclusive leadership\, creating a workplace for all\, embracing respectful workplaces\, combating unconscious bias\, leading inclusive communications\, and overcoming norms and stereotypes which improve employee engagement and increasing productivity within an organisation.She has become a leading voice for the business sector agenda on DEI in Myanmar recognised by the Asia D&I Champion Award 2022 from Women Icons Network. She is the president of the ASEAN Human Development organisation\, Myanmar Chapter\, founder of Up The Starts and sits on the Advisory Board of Women’s Voice Leadership Myanmar and Myanmar Sustainable Business Network. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoelle Vandermensbrugghe is a communication professional and an academic. After graduating with an honours degree in communication\, she worked in Europe\, specialising in media relations and development communication. She obtained a doctorate in communication in Australia in 2001. She taught strategic communication at university level\, while being active in migrant and refugees communication programs. She has a strong interest in media representations and in the role of communication as a tool for understanding differences. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAshley is an educator who helps professionals to communicate in workplace settings from businesses to hospitals. She managed a social media campaign and moderated a global webinar in partnership with the Global Learning Festival and RMIT\, Melbourne. She has collaborated on workshops on inclusive education strategies and written for the World Literacy Foundation\, Teacher Magazine and EFL Magazine\, as well as co-publishing in several peer-reviewed psychology journals. Ashley is the recipient of the inaugural award for Excellence in Student Leadership and Belonging 2021\, and believes that communication is about sharing learning effectively to achieve success together. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nKenneth Tling is a marketing communications professional. He has worked in Hakha-Chin language periodical publications in\, as a reporter for a mainstream media house\, and news content producer for Myanmar’s only English radio channel. At BCGE\, his work amplifies the voices of member firms’ to promote their steadfast commitment to workplace gender equality. His work gives visibility to workplace gender equality initiatives through awareness campaigns\, social media content\, events and a wide range of communication activities. His role includes partnering and collaborating on BCGE’s community outreach programs reflecting his passion for people-centered communications.

Inclusive leadership is critical for organisations that want to adopt an inclusive culture to create a great workplace for all levels of employees. Being an inclusive leader takes more than surrounding yourself with employees with different perspectives and backgrounds. \nEmployees want an open\, unique\, team-oriented\, transparent\, and inviting workplace for everyone. They want to ask and ensure they feel a sense of belonging and value. \n  \nWhat Can You Expect from These Series\nThe Inclusive Leadership Series includes six episodes in a bi-monthly period. The peer-to-peer session touches on the topics each workplace leader and managers should know about leading a diverse team and building an inclusive culture.
