SUMMARY:D&I Club Workshop 2023-2024 : Exploring Root Factors and Key Areas
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Root Factors and Key Areas\nA 𝐃&𝐈 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐁𝐂𝐆𝐄 was resumed on 17th October\, starting with “𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭\, 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠\, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲.” The Clubbers\, the HR\, DEI\, and Sustainability Professionals from BCGE member firms believe that harassment\, bullying\, and discriminatory behaviors in the workplace can have serious effects on morale\, productivity\, workplace safety\, and overall performance so they marked the topic to be discussed within Clubbers for the “How To” actions on this initiative\, since last year. \nIn the Club discussion\, they discussed the subtopics of “𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧” and “𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬” with interactive group discussions led by the assigned Team Leaders of the Clubbers themselves. The first subtopic\, “Root Factors and Consideration\,” was led and facilitated by Ma Yadana Myint Oo\, Ma Thida Lwin\, and Ma Han Thi Htet\, and the second subtopic by Ma Yamin Nyunt\, Ko Thiha\, and Ma Thida Linn supported by the respective coordinators from BCGE. \nThis collaborative approach ensured the active engagement of all D&I Clubbers\, generating valuable insights and talking points related to anti-harassment\, anti-bullying\, and non-discrimination policy. The discussions were vibrant and dynamic exchanges of ideas and perspectives from different cultures and industries\, which is a remarkable Club activity. \nThe Key takeaways from this session are:\n🔸“Many organisations believe that developing the policy can help create a fair\, equal\, and safe work environment. However\, implementing the policy may bring forth multiple complaints and issues.”\n🔸“Organisations that have not yet established this policy often attribute it to a lack of commitment from leadership.”\n🔸“When organisations develop this policy\, most find it comprehensive and effective to include the key areas such as definitions\, purposes\, scope\, responsibilities\, and more.”\n🔸“Conversely\, organisations express concerns that neglecting these key areas in the policy can lead to negative consequences\, including reputation damage\, heightened conflicts\, engagement issues\, and more.” \nAs an inclusive employer\, AYA Bank proudly supported this exciting D&I Club workshop. \nTo sum up\, the D&I Club workshop focusing on “Developing Anti-Harassment\, Anti-Bullying\, and Non-Discrimination Policy” with a detailed discussion on “Root Factors and Consideration” and “Key Areas and Concerns” was a success\, and looking ahead\, the D&I Club has exciting plans for the coming months. \nIn January 2024\, D&I Clubbers will meet again and dive into the subtopic “The Complaint Mechanism\,” which is a crucial part of developing the Anti-Harassment\, Anti-Bullying\, and Non-Discrimination Policy.
