This June, in honor of Father’s Day, we celebrated the essence of modern fatherhood through our #KhitThitPhayPhay (ခေတ်သစ်ဖေဖေ) photo contest. Fatherhood today extends far beyond a mere title – it embodies an active and engaged role that many modern dads embrace with pride. Our contest was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate fathers who are deeply involved in their families, balancing responsibilities with heartfelt dedication. We invited fathers and proud mothers to submit photographs capturing the beauty of fatherhood and share messages on why these dedicated dads prioritise their family roles.
The contest culminated in a heartwarming Award Ceremony at The British School Yangon on July 23, 2024, awarding five #KhitThitPhayPhay Champions and fifteen #KhitThitPhayPhay Believers whose submissions beautifully illustrated the impactful roles of modern fathers. The ceremony featured inspiring speeches from Daw Kyawt Kay Thi Win, Country Director of BCGE, Mr. Peter Benyon, Chairperson of the British Chamber of Commerce Myanmar, and representatives from our Platinum Sponsors: AYA Bank PCL, KBZMS General Insurance, and KST Legal. Their reflections on the initiative and the evolving role of fathers were both enlightening and motivational. We also expressed our gratitude to our Gold Sponsors; KBX Microfinance, Maple Garment Manufacturing Factory, Myanmar Imperial University (MIU), Rohto-Mentholatum Myanmar Co. Ltd., Victoria Hospital, Wave Money, and YKKO Group of Companies, Ltd. who played a crucial role in supporting the event and presenting awards.
A highlight of the day was hearing from our award-winning fathers, who shared their personal experiences and the positive impact of their hands-on involvement in parenting. To add a creative twist, we hosted a postcard workshop, where families and organisations crafted beautiful postcards celebrating modern fatherhood. All proceeds from the workshop were donated to support children diagnosed with cancer, helping to cover their medical expenses.
Although the 2024 contest has concluded, the #KhitThitPhayPhay photo contest remains a vibrant platform for celebrating fathers who break gender norms and fully engage in family life. Thank you to all who participated and supported this meaningful initiative!
