As part of our International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations this month, our Country Director, DEI Thought Leader and Strategist, Daw Kyawt Kay Thi Win, had the pleasure of speaking at IWD event of Chubb Life Insurance Myanmar, one of our Leader Members. The topic of her insightful talk was “๐ˆ๐ง๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ˆ๐ง๐œ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง.”

The event commenced with the opening remarks delivered by Mr. Anant Kulkarni, the Country President of ๐‚๐ก๐ฎ๐›๐› ๐‹๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž ๐ˆ๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐Œ๐ฒ๐š๐ง๐ฆ๐š๐ซ, who exhibited great enthusiasm for women’s empowerment, diversity, equity, and inclusion, which was later followed by the insightful talk of our Country Director. During the session, which included interactive activities, our Country Director shared profound insights into Workplace Gender Equality (WGE) and DEI. The discussion covered a wide array of crucial topics aimed at fostering inclusivity. These included individuals’ motivations for embarking on an inclusive journey, emphasising the importance of self-awareness, outlining practical steps to kickstart inclusion efforts, understanding the depth of diversity, highlighting the actionable nature of inclusion, addressing barriers on the journey, tackling stereotypes and unconscious biases, recognising common types of harassment, bullying, and discrimination, and ultimately, inspiring positive behavioral change.

Through engaging discussions and thought-provoking activities, participants were encouraged to engage in self-assessment to reflect on their biases, and explore actionable strategies to promote inclusivity within their respective spheres of influence.

One of the participants expressed, โ€œI am delighted to have attended todayโ€™s talk session. Typically, I am occupied with work throughout the day, so instances like this occurring in the workplace, some of which I am aware of and others I overlook, are quite common. The discussion today deeply resonated with me, as it shed light on norms that I have been encountering since my youth. However, there were also aspects that were new to me. I realise that there have been occasions where I may have unintentionally mirrored similar behaviors towards others. The points raised today allowed me to reflect and gain insights into how others perceive me. I particularly enjoyed the Diversity Flowers activity. Despite considering myself a patient individual, I discovered that I may not possess as much patience as I had believed. Today provided me with an opportunity for self-reflection, and I am immensely grateful to the facilitator for delivering such an insightful talk.โ€
