On 9th March 2018 – together with the leading business women, we – BCGE – represented as a panellist at “Ring the bell” event hosted by Yangon Stock Exchange to support the gender equality in the working environment. The panel was discussed about the existence of women business leaders in Myanmar, how their decision making added value to the corporate businesses as well as their vision of attaining gender equality.
Additionally, overview circumstances of Myanmar related to women in corporate leadership regardless of any empirical studies in general as well as in Myanmar even in general studies of gender are plentiful. Also, in family owned companies, daughters have more opportunities to take a position either if that is the exception rather than the rule as family-owned businesses are those where more gender diversity are observed. Eventually, regarding the cultural bias against women taking leadership role in the workplace and availability of a pool of female talent, and make sure that pool is visible and is tapped.
